Thomas Cook Update

We are aware that a number of our clients may be affected by the collapse of Thomas Cook.  The loss of a holiday can be very distressing and our claims teams are ready to answer any questions you may have.  The following guidance notes however will hopefully help to clarify what to do next;

 Thomas Cook was an ATOL protected travel agency.  That means that all customers who booked their trip through Thomas Cook should have financial protection and support available to them.  Please visit the website set up by the Civil  Aviation Authority (CAA)  This website details exactly how the CAA are working to assist both current and future travellers with repatriation and compensation.

 If you have an NFU mutual travel policy through islands the cancellation section provides cover for cancellation of a holiday due to the tour operator failing to provide booked arrangements due to liquidation.  It is important to note that the travel policy will meet costs that you are not able to recover from any other source so if your trip was booked through Thomas Cook we would ask that refunds are requested from the CAA in the first instance.

 If you have made separate bookings for different parts of your holiday and do not have the benefit of ATOL protection for all of your trip you do not need to worry.  Contact your card provider in the first instance to see if a refund is available.  If they are unable to assist please ask for confirmation from them in writing and contact the claims teams at Islands who will guide through the process of making a claim.
